Documentary Short
The Bear Coast
A small Alaskan community works to figure out how to conserve one of their most valuable resources, the greatest density of coastal brown bears on Earth.

Tucked among towering Aleutian volcanoes and pristine alpine rivers on the Alaska Peninsula is a singular stretch of habitat — Alaska's Bear Coast, home to the greatest density of wild brown bears in the world.
Protected places like the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary, Katmai National Park, and Lake Clark National Park let visitors watch these bears up close with expert guides. Yet even here, brown bears face real threats — mining, logging, hunting, oil and gas extraction, and a changing climate across a fragmenting landscape.
Told through many voices — Alaska Native community members, bear guides, biologists, and former hunters — rather than a single narrator, The Bear Coast aims to shift hearts and minds toward a deeper understanding of bears and the communities that live alongside them.
